Michael Houtz (howts) is a Brooklyn-based art director and editorial designer currently working on The New York Times Opinion desk. He’s previously worked on publications like Esquire, Queue, and The New York Times Magazine.
Having also spent many years working with branding agencies like Pentagram, The Heads of State, and Standard Black, he’s created numerous 360° visual identity systems, campaigns, and experiences for notable clients in a broad range of industries.
His conceptual photo-illustrations have graced the pages of The Atlantic, Esquire, The Economist, Fortune, The New York Times, Politico, and Vanity Fair to name a few. He’s always up for a good visual challenge.
