Michael Houtz (howts) is a Brooklyn-based editorial designer and art director currently working on The New York Times Opinion desk. He’s previously worked for publications like Esquire and The New York Times Magazine.
Having also worked at branding agencies like Pentagram, The Heads of State, and Standard Black, he’s created numerous 360° visual identity systems and experiences for a broad range of clients that have included Adidas Y-3, DC Comics, Netflix, Temple University, and Warner Brothers.
His conceptual photo-illustrations have graced the pages of The Atlantic, Esquire, The Economist, Fortune, The New York Times, Politico, and Vanity Fair. He’s almost always available for commission.
